Great value and very convenient - just watch for staff adding 'extras' when you actually pick up the vehicle!
I recently spent a month visiting the USA, and hired a car through the Rentalcars website on 3 separate occasions (Boston, Buffalo, Philly). The initial selection, reserving and paying for the rental via the website was excellent, and much easier than going to individual dealer websites for quotes.
The actual car I drove was also a good match to what I reserved when you consider my caveat below about watching out for agents attempting to give you a worse car or charge you for an 'upgrade' when you pickup the rental - I believe that this is to some degree outside of the control of Rentalcars, as they utilise a wide variety of rental agencies...
I also found the cost very favourable when comparing with dealer websites, and organising a rental through Rentalcars includes all the relevant insurance and waivers (such as LDW) at a MUCH better price than you will get when negotiating with office staff upon pickup. I can vouch for the LDW as I managed to bash the bumper on one car, and besides filling out a short form, no other action (or money) was involved...
HOWEVER, and this is a big however, be very wary of what staff in the Rental office are charging you upon pickup. It's accepted practise in the USA for rental agencies to charge you for a full tank of fuel (and you can return the car empty), but watch out for sneaky 'upgrade' charges, extra irrelevant insurance (you're most likely already covered), and toll-passes that you don't need!
For example, when picking up my car in Boston at Thrify the agent quietly added an upgrade charge for what was effectively the car I had requested. He also attempted to add extra unneeded insurance and an 'EZ' toll-pass that I wasn't going to use. Unless you question every item on the bill, and forcibly push back you may get stung for an unnecessary cost (and yes, you may have to be rude by British standards, as the agents are heavily incentivised to sell insurance etc :) )
It's also much better value to buy your GPS before you travel overseas or buy one once there - renting a GPS for a week will cost the same as buying the unit, and in my experience I have found both the device and maps to be more up to date with the units I have bought.

Drop-off problem - unclear where
Bays reserved for drop-off were hard to find as the hire company name had been changed. The labelling of different hire companies needs improving at Olbia airport, Sardinia.
This is the only criticism - the car was fine & the desk service was excellent.

Parfait sauf informations concernant les stations service
Mon évaluation serait parfaite si la préposée au bureau m'avait prévenue que les seules stations service du coin étaient fermée jusqu'à 17h et que nous devions faire le plein avant 13h. Elle m'a signalé que je devais faire le plein à la station la plus proche (marausa) au retour mais a omis de me signaler que cette station n'accepte pas les cartes étrangères et qu'elle est fermée l'après-midi. Nous devons donc payer un plein sous peine de rater notre avion. C'est le seul bémol à cette location.

Excellent and efficient
They managed to find me the best price for car rental and undercut anything else that I found myself. I had to make some changes to the booking and this was done very quickly. The only annoying thing was sometimes having to wait on the phone for 10 minutes. Otherwise, great site!

Das Auto ist wunderbar, alles war in Ordnung, nur eine Sache war wirklich ein Manko, dass dringend behoben werden muss: es war keine Parkscheibe im Auto! Das geht in Deutschland natürlich nicht.

La prudence est de mise, vérifier bien l'état du véhicule avant le départ. Après avoir vérifié l'état général du véhicule extérieur, il s'avère que le plein n'était pas entièrement réalisé lors de la prise en charge de l'auto. Nous n'avons pas jugé judicieux de le faire valoir et c'est un tort. A la remise du véhicule, après plus de 20 minutes d'attente, la personne nous a fait savoir que le plein n'était pas plein alors que nous l'avions effectué à une station à moins de 2 kilomètres...Tentative de surtaxe ? Nous sommes en droit de nous poser la question. Nous voyant réfractaire à cet argument, l'employée est partie nous ignorant totalement. Pas même les formules de politesse de base.

Excellent service in Sicily
Although I had read some offputting reviews via the internet there was nothing to fear. My car was waiting for collection bright and early in downtown Palermo as arranged. The office staff were very helpful answering all my questions and giving advice. They anticipated all the things I needed to know! The car (Fiat Panda) was a good choice for up to 4 adults (cabin luggage only) both when travelling at a good speed by motorway and when using very narrow Sicilian streets. When sadly the holiday ended and it was time for dropping the car off at the airport, the service was equally prompt and helpful. I would definitely use this service again and recommend it to others.

A better deal than I thought I would get
Quick and speedy online booking. The hire company I got was Avis (which I have never used before as I thought they would be too expensive). Very quick pick up at Exeter Airport - no waiting about at all. Lovely car and a very good price and dealt with even quicker when I returned. Excellent!

Budget service is good!
The pickup of the car from Munich Airport was not entirely easy, because the room for maneuvring is limited and Airport´s garage exit gate is quite narrow. Therefore I had some trouble with getting out and didn't succeed with first attempt (e.g parking ticket was taken by the machine, but due to hardship I didn´t get out on time). Therefore I had to go back some 200 metres to Budget office for asking new parking ticket. Also I encountered with some problems of understanding English at the desk. On the contrary, drop-off of the car was very fast with excellent service at Airport.

no se indica lo que se debe dejar de fianza
cuando llegué a recoger el vehiculo me dijeron que tenia que deajr 1300 euros de fianza, cosa que me sorprendió mucho porque he utilizado este servicio más veces y como mucho me han pedido 300 euros, no disponia de tal cantidad en la tarjeta con lo que me obligaron a cogerme un seguro de 60 euros que yo no queria y por el que no podia pagar ya que soy estudiante erasmus y mi beca no es muy extendida, por lo tanto me guataría que se indicara antes de hacer ka reserva por completo la oficina de recogida y la fianza que se debe dejar, todo esto ocurrió en sicilybycar en palermo

Mi vuelo se demoro 2 horas y en vez de salir a las 10 de la noche
salio a las 12, al llamar al telefono que se me dio de Avis para comunicarles el retraso no contestaba nadie, como ultimo recurso contacte con rental cars para que lo gestionasen, el chico que me atendio llamo al mismo numero y no recibio contestacion, me sugirio que siguiese llamando sin darme ninguna solucion, solo que si conseguia hacer la gestion llamase para avisarles, tuve que buscarme la vida con mi movil( gracia a que dispone de internet)
para buscar un 902 de Avis Barcelona, donde me atendieron gustosamente, solo tengo parabienes para ellos, la chica de avis me espero hasta la 1,50 de la madrugada con una sonrisa.
al volver a llamar a rental cars, me atendio una chica que al comentarle lo sucedido se disculpo y me comento que sentia mucho lo sucedido que ella podia haber hecho la gestion y que no sabia como este chico no habia buscado otro telefono.
Nada mas, yo volvere a alquilar con ellos, aparte de este problema pienso que es una buena web de alquiler

Rubbish
Bought CDW excess but when picked up car charged again for the same. When I questioned this I was informed the insurance you sold was not as good and I could find myself in the event of an accicent having to pay for tow trucks and other items that were not covered by you. Would never recommend you to anyone and will post above on internet

Bei der Anmietung wurde uns mitgeteilt, dass die Buchung eines Navigationstgeräts nicht zwingend notwendig gewesen wäre. Wir hatten einige Probleme das Navi nicht zu nehmen und bei der Rückgabe hat das zu weiteren Rückfragen geführt.

Good clean cars at value prices.
Need a little more honesty about how much the cost of a full tank of fuel is, before you arrive to pick it up. Very slow service collecting the car seemed to be more interested in selling add ons regarding insurance -an extra 75 euros for 5 days rental was around £50. Would hate to arrive in the height of season the waiting time would probably increase from 1 hour to 3 hours !

Il servizio è stato efficiente! La macchina era buonissima e in condizioni perfette! Anche il personale addetto alla consegna e al ritiro è stato cortese e disponibile.
Una sola pecca: la pulizia esterna della macchina lasciava un po' a desiderare! Internamente il veicolo era pulitissimo!!

Lors de mon séjour à Madère, j'ai loué une voiture type Opel Corsa de la société GUERIN.
Lors de la première utilisation en montagne, j' ai constaté que la voiture avait des problèmes de puissance en montée et une alarme au tableau de bord est apparue.
Après contact avec la société, la voiture a été remplacée sans difficulté.
Au contraire, je ne peux que souligner ma satisfaction lors de l'échange (Renault Mégane), la disponibilité et la gentillesse du personnel.

LOCAUTO CATANE AEROPORT/RENTALCARS
La réservation par Rentalcars sur le web est très bien. Appel téléphonique pour s'assurer que la franchise est bien comprise pour ne pas avoir de surprise au moment de prendre la voiture.
LOCAUTO à l'aéroport de Catane Sicile "bétonne" les informations et les garanties financières. Plus d'une demie heure de saisie informatique et de contrôle informatique des informations personnelles. Ils ne se sont pas déplacé pour faire un état du véhicule et ont demandé de signer que le véhicule était en excellent état sans l'avoir vu !!! Au retour, une personne de LOCAUTO est venue vérifier l'état du véhicule et le plein d'essence et m'a remis l'attestation de "bon état signé par moi et elle. Comme prévu LOCAUTO a pris l'empreinte de ma carte bancaire et m'a fait signer une autorisation de blocage ou de prélèvement sur mon compte de 1.000€ comme franchise ou garantie du véhicule. J'ai du insister très vivement et pendant une demie heure pour que LOCAUTO ne prélève pas sur mon compte et accepte que je paie tout de suite en liquide les 30€ de taxes diverses prévues. Comme tous était conforme sur le plan administratif et financier, j'ai demandé que LOCAUTO me restitue l'empreinte de ma carte bancaire et l'autorisation de prélèvement, LOCAUTO A REFUSÉ SANS MOTIF MALGRÉ MON INSISTANCE ET MES EXPLICATIONS. DONC JE DOIS FAIRE LE NÉCESSAIRE AUPRÈS DE MA BANQUE POUR BLOQUER TOUTE UTILISATION DE CETTE EMPREINTE DE MA CARTE BANCAIRE PAR LOCAUTO OU QUI QUE CE SOIT ! Et surtout bien surveiller les prélèvement sur mon compte ... à suivre.

Easy and quick with no hidden costs, excellent.
We were able to get into the car within minutes of arriving at the airport. No waiting, no delays at pick up or drop off and there were no extra costs. It was very good value and saved us alot of time.

Un site de location difficile à trouver, mais un service parfait.
Des navettes extremement régulières pour les allers retours entre l'aéroport et l'agence de location.
Un accueil et une écoute du client vraiment à la hauteur, rien à redire.
