I needed to re-upload my website and my browser was not showing the new updated website I had uploaded. With my knowledge limited in web-hosting and being a saturday I was stuck! Thank goodness for the lifesaving option of online support and Daniel the support agent who told me exactly what the problem was in a sentence.
Clearly out my cache in firefox sorted the problem out and my website is looking as it should again. 123-reg's online support is one of the reasons I won't go anyway else for my web hosting. Nor should you if you are looking for reliable online help even on a saturday!
I needed some changes making to my DNS settings. These were settings I could't make myself using control panel.
I mailed them on a saturday afternoon & within 20 minutes I had a reply saying the changes had been done.
2nd time I've made such a request and their response was the same both times.
I have been with 123 reg for several years, If you buy a domain and just leave it with them you are unlikely to have any problems, The problems start when you start taking extra services from them. Beware, once you buy a product off them it will be impossible to cancel. you will never get your money back, they will continue charging your account well after you have been promised a cancellation.
If you dispute the charge with paypal, they will just suspend your account and lock you out of your domains emails etc.
Honestly, just don't start with them, it is not worth the headache and the hassle.
Their support is awful, their customer service is shocking.
As you can see below a fellow called James asks me to contact him on a special customer experience email. I believe this is just a total gimmick to make it appear that someone is willing to help and it all has been a big mistake. James knows who I am User "algrycope" and can easily email me directly to sort out any problems.

contacted 123-reg support as the issue was from information on a domain name that I own through them.
They were incredibly quick with there response and reassured me by showing me where the information was kept and how to deal with the problem.
Very grateful indeed.
We're a small web design firm and we use 123-reg a lot. Under normal circumstances their system is excellent, and we have no cause to complain. And their prices are probably the best out there.
However on 2 occasions recently I have had cause to use their "support" service and each time I am left in utter disbelief about how truly terrible it is. Canned answers. Contradictory instructions. They seem to read no more than the first two lines of your most recent question, and so there is no continuity.
Unfortunately this is the last thing you need when you have technical problems and your website is down.
I don't want to bore you with my experiences, but if you happen to be interested, or one of their support people is reading this review, I shall summarise my specific gripes below.
1. On one occasion, their domain cancellation system (which I use frequently and am very familiar with) failed to work. Rather than look into the error, they simply refused a refund unless I could prove (err....how?) that I had actually cancelled the domain. (We have since made it company policy to take screenshots of all cancelled domains.)
2. More recently, my girlfriend's domain expired by mistake and she had lost access to the email account used to manage it. Her error. Can't blame 123-reg for that one. Still, I thought it would be *relatively* easy to prove her identity and re-establish ownership..... heh....
It's now 5 days later. The website is still down. It's been 8 hours since we last heard from their support team. We have spoken to 6 different reps. Each has requested us to fill out a different form, or send them a different item of ID. Each time we send the ID. We hear nothing. We prod them. They ask us to send another, different, form of ID. We do. We hear nothing. We prod them. They request us to fill out a yet another form. ... you get the idea.
Useless company, cant get anything right and will take sell your domains from underneath you given half the chance.
I recently had an issue with 123-reg Hit Logger & Counter. Using Online Chat the Advisor Marion was great. I found out today that you don't need to place a Counter
on your site (Which in fairness can make your site un-sitely). In fact in the same box
was a Application which collates all the information from Search Engines, Site Hits, Charts and Bar Graphs. Something I didn't know was there. This now saves me time logging on to Google WebmasterTools and Bing WebmasterTools to get the same figures. Fantastic work Marion and it's not just you. When even I have contacted 123-reg they have always resolved my issues with speed.
Great Customer Service
I always use 123, as they are easy to use and very friendly. I cant rate them enough for their support.
I was trying to get my new business account emails coming down my phone. I'd tried the guide on the website but had no joy. I waited until CHAT was open the next day and they linked my to a different guide which worked! What a great service :)
The live chat customer service is brilliant. Every time I have used it I have been talking to someone by the time it has taken me to write out my question and then the problem has been resolved in minutes, even when I asked quite a technical question, involving lots of self written php and half expected to be told to work it out myself, they answered and solved the problem in one line.
At the moment I use the shared hosting packages and find the custom control panel a bit difficult to manage but I feel their support makes up for this as it is so easy to ask if you get stuck.
I will definitely be buying one of their VPS with cpanel next time I need one.
I have never attempted to make a website myself before and decided to give it a go. I found the purchasing of a domain name to be incredibly easy and, after searching and asking about, decided that 123-reg seemed to be a pretty good hosting company too.
I purchased their business package (which apparently comes with a free domain name - shame as I'd already purchased one!) and found that process easy too!
I did have a problem trying to upload my website as the package that I used was asking for the "folder" relating to my FTP account. I used the live web chat service to be told by Marian that it should be /web/content/ Something I personally feel should be mentioned in the welcome email? None the less, after inputting this information my site started uploading. Marian then pointed the Domain to the Hosting IP (Something which sounded completely foreign to me!) and told me that my site should be ready to view online in 24-48 hours!
I hope this is the case and look forward to seeing all my hard work online!
All in all, a smooth process with good, clear communication from the operatives!
I've just had to most atrocious support service from 123-Reg. I've tried using their ticket system, their live chat and their telephone service. I have been moved from pillar to post without any resolution. One person tells me I'm in the wrong account to log into my other account, so I do that and then I'm told I'm in the wrong account and go back to the other one, which I do and the process starts again.
When I ask simple questions to resolve the issue, I get a copied and pasted "how to" answer from their website rather than them resolving the issue.
I got no apology, no help and the money they have taken without my consent is not being refunded by them.
I would stay well clear of this company - I'm with other domain providers and 123-Reg is shockingly bad comparatively.
Have quite a few domains registered with 123-REG and have never had any problems. Domains seem to be activated within a couple of hours (or quicker) after purchase. Support get back to you very quickly and they're always on live chat. Brilliant service!
I was getting stuck installing WordPress to my site so called upon the Live Chat support feature. I spoke to Marian, who was really happy to help and understood my confusion (even if it was simple stuff!), she sorted it all out for me quickly and efficiently and I am really grateful.

Good, fast communications via the support / ticker system. The offered solution was beyond my technical competence so I decided to live with the issue (receiving emails intended for other people / possibly a spam issue).
I have contacted 123 reg on a few occasions on their live support function for help and on their help part of the website. The site is easy to use and navigate and the help functions cover all aspects. I have a few accounts with 123-reg and would highly recommend them.
I was getting myself in absolutely knots about setting up my wordpress site through 123-reg, when I went onto live chat and explained my problem 'Christian' was thoroughly helpful and sorted it out for my in under 5 minutes!!

I'm a newbe; the VPS I have with 123-Reg is my first and I have had some teething problems, but the staff at 123 have usually been most helpful.
The support documentation can be a bit baffling, the support videos don't often work, and the divisions between the 123 Panel and my Plesk Panel aren't always that clear, but, with perseverance it all seems to work out,
I needed to transfer both domains and hosting from my previous hoster to 123-REG which included 12 hosting domains.
It's always a concern when changing your hosting provider but 123 Reg have been supportive in that transition. Before I signed up to the unlimited package all my questions were answered professionally and immediately through the live chat function. After signup support was superb in helping me load my mysql database. The features functions and speed of the service is outstanding. I had a few issues transferring one of my domains but 123-REG resolved this quickly through their helpdesk ticket system.
I'm also delighted with the performance of my web sites on 123-REG, significantly quicker than my last hoster.
I was looking for a hoster which included free domain transfer ins and free domain transfers out which also allowed me to host multiple web domains which narrowed the field somewhat.
There are no significant negatives, perhaps the spam filter could be better engineered as in its current form it's clumsy, as it will delete email it considers spam, it would be better if this went into quarantine to give you an opportunity to review.
The domain registration costs can be cheaper elsewhere but they are not excessive.
My previous hoster was Heart Internet, who are superb, but there hosting package was expensive for my requirements. However, I still keep the majority of my domains with them as there domain registration costs are unbeatable. The other great thing about 123-REG is they allow you to host external domains which means I can register domains with Heart and host these at 123-REG !
I have been with 123-Reg over 10 years now buying domain names
to host on my servers and not there's by the way. I renewed one of my domain names
on 22 Mar 2013 outofthebloom.com to be precise paid in full and have a
Receipt for the payment. The domain is still off line while they are
changing Registrars is what they told me. To put insult to injury they
have the domain name pointing to a site that is PPC. I phoned them on monday 25th
and was told it would be up by the thur 28 Mar to confirm that they told me to look
in my 123-Reg control panel. I took a copy of the details so could show me client.
I then called today to find out why it is still not showing only to be told the domain
will not be up until Tue 2nd April.
Because i took a copy of the web site when it was showing 28/3 and now 2/4 that now makes the
domain name that I have paid for in full will be off line for 11 days.
My domain name off line for 11 days I you cannot do nothing about it with 123-Reg.
The Administrative Contact has also changed to @domainbox.net by the way is a company that
123-Reg recently bought.
I realy had high regards for 123-Reg and recomended all my clients to them. This has totaly
changed the way I feel about the company plus I have now lost a valuable client because of all this.
Don’t use 123reg. This company has lost my trust completely.
Try to use a direct/root registrar if at all possible.

Out of all the companies I've used for domain registrations 123-Reg is always the company I recommend to friends and family. They're fair in their pricing, their support and live chat system is great and they're always helpful and friendly.
In the 5 or so years I've used them I've never had a problem. 123-Reg all the way!
123-reg is good, but i see it a bit complicated. not as friendly use as godaddy.com Still I like to have an account with 123-reg coz i trust their Customer Support Team. Like Adelina who supported me with my queries. Thanks Adelina

I'm sure many companies offer the same services as 123-reg, but what I've noticed is that in the main their helpdesk online 'chat' team really does want to help.
I've had one less than perfect experience, but when it comes to the technology/IT side of things, overall I am delighted that I have chosen 123-reg. Very friendly support staff - which makes running a small business without its own IT department much easier.
Been with 123-reg for sometime for my domains and other things.Support is fantastic and very quick to reply and very quick at helping to sort out any issues you may have.
Would highly recommend 123-reg for your domains and other services
